- Prime Minister Narendra will on June 17, 2020 interact with the Chief Ministers of the 15 worst-hit states and union territories including Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
- Asian Championship gold medalist Gomathi Marimuthu has been banned from running for four years by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on June 12, 2020 for doping. She had won gold in the women’s 800 m race at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar.
- Indian cricketers KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara have been issued notices by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for failing to disclose their whereabouts. Two other Indian women cricketers, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma also received similar notices.
- India would be sending a tri-service military contingent to participate in the Russian Victory Day Parade on June 24, 2020. The Russian parade was supposed to be held on Victory Day on May 9 but got delayed because of COVID-19. The annual Russian Victory Day parade marks the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945.
- Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi at a virtual Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral meeting on June 22, 2020. This meeting comes amid rising tensions between India and China over border stand-off along the LAC.
- China is racing to control fresh coronavirus outbreak in Beijing after over 75 new cases were reported in the last two days. The new virus cluster is linked to a single wholesale food and meat market in Beijing. The concerned authorities have begun mass testing almost hundreds of people who had visited the Xinfadi wholesale market.
- Bank of Baroda, India’s third-largest lender has decided to completely digitize its lending operations including agriculture, home, MSME, auto and personal loans. The bank is looking to completely do away with paper-based lending. The bank is planning to set up its digital department within two months.
- Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput died at his home in Bandra, Mumbai on June 14, 2020. The actor had made his entry into Bollywood with Kai Po Che in 2013. His last work would be Mukesh Chhabra’s ‘Dil Bechara’ opposite Sanjana Sanghi, which is yet to be released
